Depend on Your Own Self

We are bound to experience both the good & the bad things in our life. This is the nature of life.
According to the Buddha's teachings, we have the opportunity to realise how we can overcome difficult things. We should recognise how we respond to the nature of life (good & bad things). Anger is an example of our response to the bad things and attachment is an example of our response to the good things. Isn't it true? We should have reflect on ourselves whether we have a fair mind or not! We can't find real happiness with an unfair mind. How do we train to get a fair mind? According to the Buddha's teaching, wise attention is the only way to get a fair mind. You will not reach the good things if you don't use wise attention on the bad things that you experience. Similarly, you will not reach liberation (Nibbana) if you don't use wise attention on the good things that you experience. That means, "DEPEND ON YOUR OWN SELF!" No one can change your attitude without your permission. Sometimes things go your way & sometimes they don't. You may not always get to choose what happens. But you can always get to decide on how you feel about what happens. You have the right to be unhappy. I cannot talk you out of it. Most people have allowed happiness to be their strategy to living their life. As for me, I want you to be happy. This is the reason why I am sending this mail. I hope that you can attain real happiness by using wise attention.
Yours in the Dhamma,
Ven. DMPL.
